Sound Therapy & Binaural Beats

The human brain runs different functions at different frequencies. These frequencies can be induced into the brain without being noticed. The brain naturally tries to average the sound received by your ears and it is by this phenomenon that this system works. Such frequencies are known as binaural beats.

For example: I play a 240Hz sound in one ear and 250Hz in the other and a particular brain function ran at 10Hz and this particular brain function deals with sleep/relaxation. While listening to what I am playing your brain without your knowledge will begin to send signals to relax or induce sleep to your body. 10Hz in this case is the binaural beat.

What also gets affected by this albeit after a short while is your conscious state of mind. The idea behind sound therapy is to help assist in a certain task. The beauty behind this system of therapy is that it taps directly into your subconscious, which allows for maximum efficiency.

Currently sound therapy can assist in rest and relaxation, sleep induction, healing, expanded attention spans and increased alertness. Improving memory power is currently being developed through this method if not already developed.

Think of the possibilities that this kind of therapy can used for. It is for starters possible to improve the rhythmic functioning of your body, which in turn improves your overall well being and state of mind. Sound therapy could be used in assisting those who are unfortunately afflicted with mental conditions. It could be used extensively in treatment against cancer and other terminal illnesses. The possibilities are endless.

Sound therapy has been existed for ages all though not in the sense I am talking about. We are used to calling them spiritual music, meditation music, etc. Remember the music that made you feel euphoric? These are nothing but the effects of binaural beats.

A personal experience comes to mind as I write this. I had someone close to me come over to my house. She was rather annoyed about something that happened on the way. At that point I asked her to sit down and listen to something that I had purchased online as part of my interest in the field. Essentially the music contained only tibetan singing bowls, native american drums and a didgeridoo. Interestingly she was asleep after 5 minutes of listening to the track. What followed was far more valuable for my knowledge. What she told me after she woke up was the she felt euphoric and that she hadn't slept this well and this deep in a very long time. She said she felt like it had been a full 8 hours since she went to sleep. In reality she had only slept for 20 minutes.

What you need to take from this experience of mine is that it can be heard anytime. [Just make sure your not driving or operating any sort of equipment]. This can possibly help you through one of those extremely long days.

Below is the link to the music I mentioned earlier. I am also adding a link to give you a little insight into the history of binaural beats.
